Or if it didn\u2019t send. You finally check your spam inbox and low-and-behold, there it is. Filtered out of your sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only way to avoid this fate with important emails (ya know, like the kind from the tool that you run your entire business on) is to <strong>whitelist:<\/strong> to put someone on a \u201clist\u201d of sorts that allows them to bypass spam blockers and go straight to your inbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, whitelisting procedures vary slightly between different email service providers, so this article will break down the steps for each service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>GMAIL:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It would be nice if you could simply check a box to add a sender to a list of friends, but unfortunately, Gmail doesn\u2019t work that way. However, although it may take a couple extra steps, there are some easy and effective ways to whitelist your friends and important brands in Gmail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>ADD EMAIL ADDRESSES TO YOUR CONTACTS<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This method will require you to go to your Google contacts link. Fortunately, it\u2019s an easy fix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, a friend sends you an email that ends up in your Spam inbox before you\u2019ve taken the time to whitelist them. There\u2019s a quick way to fix that as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click into your spam inbox and select the email that came from the person you\u2019d like to whitelist. You\u2019ll see a little tag next to their name that labels them as spam. Here you have the option to either whitelist an entire domain if you want to receive all emails from that address (we <em>highly<\/em> suggest you whitelist the entirety of Kartra.com and\/or WebinarJam.com because otherwise, you may miss support or announcement emails). Or, if you just want to receive emails from a specific person at a company, you can choose to only put their specific email address in the \u201cFrom\u201d tab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019re done, click \u201ccreate filter,\u201d which is directly next to the blue search button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1304\" height=\"650\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage1-1.png\" alt=\"Whitelisting Emailimage1 1\" class=\"wp-image-4736\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage1-1.png 1304w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage1-1-600x299.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1304px) 100vw, 1304px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve submitted your filter, you\u2019ll see the following screen, where you can designate what label to assign to that email or domain. Click \u201cnever send it to Spam,\u201d and if it\u2019s a really important email address, check off \u201calways mark it as important.\u201d Once you\u2019re finished, select \u201ccreate filter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1292\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage10.png\" alt=\"Whitelisting Emailimage10\" class=\"wp-image-4737\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage10.png 1292w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage10-600x464.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1292px) 100vw, 1292px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>OUTLOOK:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Like Gmail, you can whitelist a contact by either adding them as a contact, or in Outlook\u2019s case using the \u201cSafe Senders\u201d feature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>ADDING A CONTACT:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To add a contact, you\u2019ll need to navigate to the contacts section of Outlook. To do this, click the people icon towards the bottom left of the screen. Here you should enter the first name, last name, and email address of the person you are whitelisting. Feel free to add any notes. And it\u2019s a great way to guarantee the emails you want to receive won\u2019t end up in Spam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To add someone to Safe Senders, you\u2019ll first want to click the gear icon in the top right corner, and then at the bottom of the pop-up, you\u2019ll want to click \u201cView all Outlook settings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1999\" height=\"994\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage7.png\" alt=\"Whitelisting Emailimage7\" class=\"wp-image-4738\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage7.png 1999w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage7-600x298.png 600w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage7-1536x764.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1999px) 100vw, 1999px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the settings window opens, you will want to click on \u201cMail\u201d and then \u201cJunk email.\u201d Scroll to the section that says safe senders and domains and click \u201cAdd.\u201d A field will appear that allows you to either type it a specific email or a domain. Fill it out and press the \u201center\u201d key on your keyboard to add it to the list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make SURE you press the save button at the top of the pop-up when you\u2019re done, or your new safe sender address may not save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>YAHOO:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two ways to whitelist an email with Yahoo: you can add it to your contacts or create a filter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>ADDING A CONTACT:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To add a contact, you will want to click the Contacts icon on the right side of your screen. From there, click \u201cAdd a new contact.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1999\" height=\"1002\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage17.png\" alt=\"Whitelisting Emailimage17\" class=\"wp-image-4740\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage17.png 1999w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage17-600x301.png 600w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage17-1536x770.png 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1999px) 100vw, 1999px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From there, simply fill out the contact information and click Save, and Yahoo will no longer filter this email out as spam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>ADDING A SPAM FILTER:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Similar to Gmail, you can add a spam filter in Yahoo to make sure an email from a domain or address goes straight to your regular inbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, you\u2019ll need to go into your settings. You will then need to add either the domain or the specific email address you want to whitelist. You can select an exact folder you\u2019d like it to filter to, although the filter will default to moving all incoming mail to your inbox. Once you\u2019re done, click Save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new filter will now show up in the filter\u2019s tab in settings using the name you assigned it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><strong>COMCAST:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>They may not be the most fun provider to get support from (hello hour-long waits on the phone), but they are one of the biggest internet service providers in the country, and they provide all their customers with a free email account. Like the other providers above, there are a few ways to whitelist contacts with Comcast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>XFINITY CONTACTS<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To add a contact in Comcast, go to your email account and click the \u201cAddress Book\u201d tab and then click the create contact icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1220\" height=\"728\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage22.png\" alt=\"Whitelisting Emailimage22\" class=\"wp-image-4743\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage22.png 1220w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage22-600x358.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1220px) 100vw, 1220px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A form will pop up; simply fill it out as detailed as you\u2019d like and click Save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to add a bunch of contacts at once and speed up the process, simply import contacts from your other email accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, navigate back to the address book tab, and click the \u201cimport contacts\u201d link in the left navigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1120\" height=\"530\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage2.png\" alt=\"Whitelisting Emailimage2\" class=\"wp-image-4744\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage2.png 1120w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage2-600x284.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1120px) 100vw, 1120px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From here, you will be directed through a wizard that will help you import your existing contacts from another email provider or from a file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>WHITELIST EMAIL FILTERS<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>By now you\u2019re probably noticing a trend. You can create a filter to guarantee incoming emails from a certain sender or site make it directly to your inbox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this in Comcast, simply click the gear icon in the upper corner and tap \u201csettings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1172\" height=\"596\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage14.png\" alt=\"Whitelisting Emailimage14\" class=\"wp-image-4745\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage14.png 1172w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Whitelisting-emailimage14-600x305.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1172px) 100vw, 1172px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A form will appear. You need to create a name for this rule; we recommend going with the name of the sender here. Then under \u201cconditions,\u201d choose Sender\/From, and enter the email address or domain you\u2019re trying to whitelist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, under \u201cadd action\u201d add \u201cKeep\u201d (this is important to ensure that any emails that come from this address end up in your inbox). Now, click Save to add this rule to your email account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>EMAIL SAFE LIST<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Comcast has a unique setting called \u201csafe list.\u201d When this setting is enabled, ONLY people whose emails you\u2019ve designated as \u201csafe\u201d will show up in your inbox. Everything else will head straight to spam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is great if your Comcast email is designed for a very specific set of work where you only communicate with a small subset of people.
