[TIP]<\/strong><strong> Embed tracking codes into your webinar pages using \u201cCombo rules\u201d: referrer + goal pages.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The best way to add your 3rd party tracking codes (such as, for example, Facebook tracking) into your WebinarJam or EverWebinar pages is via <a href=\"https:\/\/tagmanager.google.com\/\">Google Tag Manager<\/a>, a free service provided by Google.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a nutshell, GTM is nothing but a \u201ccontainer\u201d where you can add as many tracking scripts as you want, configure a few rules, and finally you\u2019d embed that \u201ccontainer\u201d wherever you want. In this case, you\u2019d copy\/paste it into the \u201cIntegrate 3rd party tracking systems\u201d area of your WebinarJam\/EverWebinar console.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1339\" height=\"946\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image1.png\" alt=\"Image1\" class=\"wp-image-4771\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image1.png 1339w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image1-600x424.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1339px) 100vw, 1339px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#ffffff\" class=\"has-inline-color\">..<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He<strong>re\u2019s the overall idea:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1.<\/strong> For Facebook, or any other tracking script that requires you to provide a fixed URL, use the Base URL as per the instructions further below in this article. Once done, they will give you a tracking code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For any other script that simply provides you with a tracking pixel, just grab it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2.<\/strong> Paste that tracking code\/pixel into a GTM container, and in return GTM will give you an embeddable code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3.<\/strong> Embed the GTM embeddable code into WJ\/EW as showed in the screenshot above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;Anyway, now that we have covered the overall process, let\u2019s cover the specifics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s beyond the scope of this article to explain how to operate the GTM interface and functionality, but we\u2019d like to touch on one particular topic many of our customers have asked us about: <em>How to effectively track goals (for example registrants) if our webinar pages (for example the Thank You page) share the same base URL for all webinars?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s how you do it: you need to create a combined rule inside GTM! (this combo-rule is the key concept in this process).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Explaining the webinar\u2019s Base URLs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The URLs for WJ and EW events have a peculiar characteristic: as opposed to other platforms, they do not include any unique ID in their webinar URLs. Instead, the webinar page URLs look something like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Registration page: https:\/\/event.webinarjam.com\/register\/XXXXXXXXX<\/li><li>Thank you page: https:\/\/event.webinarjam.com\/registration\/thank-you\/XXXXXXXXX<\/li><li>Live room: https:\/\/event.webinarjam.com\/live\/XXXXXXXXX<\/li><li>Replay room: https:\/\/event.webinarjam.com\/replay\/XXXXXXXXX<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see, they are all composed by 2 main parts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>The Base URL: for example https:\/\/event.webinarjam.com\/registration\/thank-you\/<\/li><li>The encrypted string: XXXXXXXXX, which vary on a registrant by registrant basis.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>For the purposes of GTM, we will only focus on the Base URLs and forget about the encrypted string \u2013 we won\u2019t need it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Setting up the combined rule inside GTM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, let\u2019s say that you\u2019re looking to track registrants to your webinar, which means you will want to track people who make it to the Thank You page. The trick is to track people who visit the Thank You Page Base URL AND ALSO the referrer page (for example, the registration page or any other referring page you\u2019re driving traffic through).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s review the configuration process inside your GTM console:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>In Google Tag Manager navigate to \u201cadd a new trigger\u201d<\/li><li>Under \u201cTrigger Configuration\u201d, please choose the \u201cPage View\u201d trigger type<\/li><li>Select to have the trigger fire on \u201cSome Page Views\u201d<\/li><li>For the first condition, select \u201cPage URL\u201d \u2013 \u201cContains\u201d (it\u2019s important that it\u2019s set to \u201ccontains\u201d) and, in the URL field, place the base URL of your Thank You page, excluding the encrypted string. For instance, <em>event.webinarjam.com\/registration\/thank-you\/4728304<\/em> you would only include <em>event.webinarjam.com\/registration\/thank-you\/<\/em><\/li><li>Then click the + to add a second condition.<\/li><li>For the second condition, select \u201cReferrer\u201d \u2013 \u201cContains\u201d and, in the URL field, place the Base URL of the webinar registration page (<em>https:\/\/event.webinarjam.com\/register\/<\/em>), or any other URL that you are looking to track conversions from (in case you\u2019re using your own custom registration page).<\/li><li>Name your trigger and click \u201cSave\u201d<\/li><li>You can now use this trigger to fire tags in Google Tag Manager<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a screenshot of what it would look like once configured:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1469\" height=\"711\" src=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image4-1.png\" alt=\"Embed tracking codes into your webinar pages\" class=\"wp-image-4774\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image4-1.png 1469w, https:\/\/www.genesisdigital.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image4-1-600x290.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1469px) 100vw, 1469px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4><strong>FINAL NOTES:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember that you will need to create a new GTM container (with its own respective combo-rule) for each webinar you\u2019re looking to track. That way, each GTM tracking registers data for its own specific webinar. If you simply pasted the same GTM container into multiple webinars, Google will count the sum of all those webinars (sum of visitors to all registration pages, sum of registrants to all webinars, etc).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s been one week since WebinarJam 4.0 launched!
